The Shakurspeare Tee Collection is inspired by the iconic 'Shakurspeare' painting created by Darrin Keith Bastfield for which Tupac Shakur expressed his love for Shakespeare and posed for Bastfield in 1988 when he and Bastfield attended the Baltimore School for the Arts and formed the rap group Born Busy. At that moment Bastfield told Shakur that he would call the painting 'Shakurspeare.'

FOX 45 is set to air a segment on February 9, 2018 regarding the late rapper/actor Tupac Shakur's years in Baltimore. They speak to Darrin Keith Bastfield, author of 'Back in the Day: my life and times with Tupac Shakur and Dana "Mouseman" Smith who were childhood friends of Shakur regarding their teenage years in Baltimore with the late rap star. Bastfield and Smith are producing the film 'Born Busy', a coming of age story about their younger years with Tupac Shakur in Baltimore during the mid to late 80's. Born Busy, the motion picture is based on Darrin Keith Bastfield's book 'Back in the Day: My life and times with Tupac Shakur' published by Randomhouse in 2002. 'Born Busy' is written and to be directed by Darrin Keith Bastfield. Bastfield and Dana "Mouseman" Smith are the Producers of the project to give the truest accounts of Tupac's teenage years in Baltimore. The film is scheduled to be released on June 16, 2021 to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the late Tupac Shakur's untimely demise!
